Research expertise

My research essentially concerns international co-operation. I study this phenomenon through its global and regional manifestations. My work on global co-operation, for instance, considered the role of the United Nations in Southern countries. In regional terms, I am interested particularly in the dynamics of inter-American co-operation.

Two main ideas guide all my research. The first is that international institutions exercise often underestimated influence on international relations. The second is that the values driving political players, be they international organizations, governments or simple citizens, shape their approach to international co-operation.
