Research expertise

I am a professor and researcher in the field of administration and public policy. In my work I study collective action institutions and the dilemmas that arise when the rational pursuit of individual interests leads to irrational results for the public good. My current research concerns problems of parliamentary self-regulation in terms of ethics and conduct, and increasing the autonomy of finance ministers in the G20 countries as a way of ensuring commitment to fiscal discipline policies.

I also hold the Jean Monnet Chair in European Integration.
